Award Winners

Oxford Youth Gamelan performed at the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham on Thursday 9 July. They were given an Innovation Achievement award in the World, Folk and Roots category. In their short 10 minute set they played three pieces: Ladrang Sumedhang, their own composition La Bambang, and their arrangement of Nartosabdho’s Lancaran Serayu which they transformed into a boppy dangdut with added saxophones.

Bate Collection Family Fun Days

A day of family events featuring a treasure trail, musical demonstrations, a Javanese gamelan taster session for all the family, and a chance to play some instruments in the handling collection.

Free of charge, no advanced booking necessary.
